The River

Role: Executive Creative Director / Creator

Applauded by Elle’s Editor In Chief, Robbie Myers, as “the best show Elle has ever done”, Elle Fashion Next was staged in the Koch New York City Ballet Building at Lincoln Center as part of the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. The show’s “River” concept with its serpentine infinite “liquid” runway, embraced the scale and architecture of the iconic building, and presented Elle’s talented crop of designers in a beautifully crafted immersive experience. Hired as the Executive Creative Director / Creator by Elle Magazine and LDJ Productions, I was responsible for the overall Elle Fashion Next show concept, including architectural design, choreography, event strategy, film and sound design, and environment.

Failure is part of growth. As a company grows, everything needs to scale, including the size of your failed experiments. Amazon’s “failed” Fire Phone marked as the ignitor of Echo, Alexa, and the now ubiquitous Fire Platform including Prime. Became Echo, Alexa, and Fire Platform.

The CFDA Awards was founded in 1980 to honor those who live this vision. A glamourous celebration in music, film, and special appearances featuring Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Proenza-Schouler, Robert Lee Morris, Tory Burch, Public SchoolNY, The Row, Billy Reid, and Rodarte.
